Introduction ============ AUTOSIGMA and SIGMA are modules of the sigma package for |scname| to compute and to visualize strong motion event parameters. The calculated parameters can be stored as :term:`incidents ` in a database and used to create customized reports. While AUTOSIGMA computes the strong motion parameter automatically based on a static configuration, SIGMA provides a highly flexible user-interaction through a modern and user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI). The sigma package also provides :term:`plugins ` for onsite early warning. .. figure:: media/sigma/sigma_map_pga.png :width: 18cm :align: center SIGMA GUI showing PGA. Applications ------------ * Automatic and Interactive strong ground motion analysis for earthquakes, * Map generation for MMI, PGA, PGV, * Computation of earthquake engineering parameters, * Comparison, evaluation and selection of Ground Motion Prediction Equations (GMPEs) and Ground Motion Models (GMMs), * Report and image generation for earthquake information services, * Amplitude processing and :ref:`onsite early warning `. Features -------- * User friendly and modern interactive graphical interface * Semi-automatic and interactive data processing * Maps showing intensity (MMI) * Maps showing Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) and Velocity (PGV) * RMS of acceleration, velocity and displacement * Arias (Ia) and characteristic (Ic) intensities * Cumulative absolute velocity (CAV) * Specific energy density (SED) * Predominant (Tp) and mean (Tm) periods * Fourier, power and response spectra * Interactive definition of complex rupture geometries * Interface to |scname| and FDSN web services for importing seismic :term:`events ` * Handling of internal :term:`incidents ` and export to the SIGMA database * Supporting C++ and Python plugins * Interface to OpenQuake hazard library and user-defined python scripts for calculating the ground motion parameters * Report generation based on user-defined scripts * :ref:`On-the-fly customization` of processing and look and feel parameters. Technology ---------- AUTOSIGMA and SIGMA provide and make use of :ref:`plugins` allowing to predict ground motion parameters based on :ref:`GMPEs/GMMs ` which can be viewed on maps and added to reports. Local Vs30 models are considered. Actual amplitude measurements are made on waveforms automatically or interactively and stored along with :term:`incidents `. They can be compared with predictions. Amplitude measurements are additionally provided by :ref:`amplitude plugins ` for application by external |scname| modules, e.g. *scolv*, *scautopick* or *scamp*. *scautopick* is then capable of supporting :ref:`onsite early warning `. Promotion at science conferences ================================ The SIGMA module has been demonstrated, promoted and discussed with scientists and the |scname| community at international science conferences, e.g.: * B.
